DIY Water Tank Handler

I recently purchase an instant hot water dispenser by Xiaomi Viomi, from Lazada (link). The dispenser works very well as advertised. It really instantly dispensed hot water, I guess near to boiling level (100 degrees). The only complaint from me is that it produces quite a loud pump and boiler sound when it dispenses water. I guess that is fair as the boiler is capable of heating the room temperature water to 100 degrees in a matter of a few seconds.

One very good advantage of this hot water dispenser is that the water is kept in the water tank at room temperature. It does not heat up the whole water in the tank like the conventional electric Thermo pot that actually wasted a lot of electricity in keeping the temperature at a desired level. The boiler in this machine only starts to boil the water when you press the dispense button. Another advantage of this type of hot water dispenser is that you don’t need to wait for the whole water tank to be boiled before you can enjoy a cup of coffee. After you’ve refilled the water tank, pressing the dispense button gives you instant hot water for your coffee.

Back to this DIY project, I have used this machine for a few weeks, and there is no problem with it except one issue when I re-filled the water tank. There is no handler or holder for the water tank, so, it is quite hard for me to bring the whole tank by hand, the capacity is 4L. So in order to improve this, I designed a handler for it.

I start by creating the handler hook using Solidworks, which has a surface that will stick to the water tank, and another part of it that will be knit to a piece of “bag handler belt”.

After the design I printed the part using my 3D printer, and the result are actually quite nice.

Added 2 pieces of 3M double sided tape at the adhesive side:

Next, I cut a piece of bag handler belt from unused bag. Will need to ensure that the length of it is enough as a proper handler for the water tank.

And now, its time to do the knitting. To be frank, I do not have much experience with it.

After around 20min, I completed the knitting for both side.

Next part is to paste the handler onto the water tank. I start by measuring position of the handler, it should be at the middle of it to ensure that the tank is balanced when they are hold by this handler.

Pasting to it is quite easy, but to ensure that it is pasted to the correct position is tricky. The 3M double sided tape should be able to hold the weight, and it is only needed when I am refilling the water tank.
