I bought a new Scientific Calculator, Casio fx-570ES. You can click on the link above for more information about the calculator. Previously I am using Casio fx-570MS until recently I left my calculator at my hometown. The function for both of them are similar, and I am being told that the newer fx-570ES support more calculation function/feature which are not available in the older model.  The one on the left is fx-570MS, (belongs to my housemate) and the one on the right is my new fx-570ES.

Normal functionality of the new calculator doesn’t give much problem to me, location of the keys similar to the new one. One thing that really bugs me on the new calculator is they remove the number prefix (like milli, nano, pico, Mega, Kilo, …) on the new calculator, and they change the combination of the SHIFT + Number to other functions. I will say I rely a lot on this function on my previous Scientific Calculator for the calculation of timing in my coding work.

Increase The Sensitivity of IR Remote Control

I have a Pioneer XV-MF5 Micro HIFI in my room (around 1-2 years old), the sound is good, radio signal, all great, just one thing I am not quite satisfy. The sensitivity of the remote control seems like not so good, overall is ok, but sometimes I’ll have to point it directly to the HIFI for it to get what I press.

So, since I am having some free time, I decide to break into the remote to see what I can do to improve the sensitivity or increase the IR Signal brightness from the remote.

Supercapacitor USB Light

For those who never heard about supercapacitor, you can check for more info about supercapacitor here. Supercapacitor is basically a capacitor with very high capacity, and the capacity rating is normally around few Farads. With the “super” capacity, it basically can store a lot of charge, and I am going to use the “super” capacity to store charges for a 5mm LED. Let’s see how long will the 5mm LED last.

Shorten The Length of Wire for Your PC Mouse

I just bought a mouse for my sister, its a Logitech M100 wired mouse. After testing on that mouse (its quite a nice mouse with 1000-dpi), this idea comes to me, why not I reduce the length of the wire to perfectly fit my usage? Sometimes the length of the wire for mouse do fit the usage of some consumer but some will find it too long or too short. For example, if you are using a laptop, where you have a USB port at the side of your laptop, I am sure you will find the length of wire for normal mouse is too long for your usage. So, under this step-by-step guide, I am going to teach you on how to reduce the length of wire for your mouse.
